FAQs

Is massage safe?

Yes, massage is a very safe service. The training provided by Shellharbour TAFE is very indepth and ensures the students understand every aspect of the industry before they qualify.

You can always ask to see a therapists qualification if you are unsure.

Do I have to be naked on the table?

You are required to take off your clothes for the massage but you will leave your underwear on. You will be draped with a towel at all times and only the part of your body being worked on will be exposed.

What is draping?

Draping is a technique used with towels or sheets to provide the client with privacy and to make them feel comfortable. Only the part of your body being worked on at the time will be exposed. The rest of your body is covered appropriately with the towel.

How long does the massage go for?

Depending on what kind of massage you are after the time varies. For a Swedish relaxation massage generally speaking you are looking at an hour treatment, Sports and remedial can take from half an hour to an hour.

Can I get a rebate on services, if so what can I get a rebate on?

You are only able to get a rebate on remedial treatments if you are in a private health fund. The amount of the rebate depends on your health fund provider and the level of cover you have.

How often should I have a massage

This is entirely up to the clients discretion. Some people come once a week for a general swedish to maintain optimal health, some come once a fortnight and so on. If you are getting a remedial treatment for a chronic condition it may be advised that you have three sessions but it is entirely up to you what you choose to do.
