About The Therapist
Luke Davies has been working as a Sports & Remedial therapist within the Allied health care industry for the past four years. Luke completed his training through Shellharbour TAFE gaining his Diploma in Remedial Massage. He established his business two years ago and runs a home based clinic in the Albion Park region.
Luke has had various experiences working within different clinical settings and contracting his services to many Physiotherapists, Chiropractors and Osteopaths within the local area. His experience spans from working on the general public through to athletes in such fields as, football, Soccer, triathlons and also athletics. Luke has also donated his time along with a unique team to the Illawarra Breast Cancer Clinic assisting ladies with complications after surgery, helping maintain normal range of motion and scar tissue release.
Currently Luke is attending the University Of Western Sydney studying a Bachelor of Health Science (Sports & Exercise) gaining further knowledge and experience in human movement. Upon completion of this Luke will be looking to undertake a Masters in Physiotherapy. With new trends coming along frequently in the industry Luke attends many workshops to keep up to date with new or improved techniques. Luke is a certified Myoskeletal Therapist in Erik Dalton Myoskeletal Alignment Therapy.
About Massage
Massage is the practice of soft tissue manipulation with physical, functional, and in some cases psychological purposes and goals.
Massage involves acting on and manipulating the client's body with pressure (structured, unstructured, stationary, and/or moving), tension, motion, or vibration done manually or with mechanical aids. Target tissues may include muscles, tendons, ligaments, skin, joints, or other connective tissue, as well as lymphatic vessels, and/or organs of the gastrointestinal system. Massage can be applied with the hands, fingers, elbows, forearm, and feet. There are over eighty different massage modalities. The most cited reasons for introducing massage have been client demand and perceived clinical effectiveness.

DIFFERENT STYLES OF MASSAGEMyofascial release
Myofascial release refers to the manual massage technique for stretching the fascia and releasing bonds between fascia, integument, and muscles with the goal of eliminating pain, increasing range of motion. Myofascial release usually involves applying shear compression or tension in various directions,low long duration holds or by skin rolling.
Swedish massage
Swedish massage uses five styles of long, flowing strokes to massage. The five basic strokes are effleurage (light touch), petrissage (kneading), tapotement (rhythmic tapping), friction (compression), and vibration. Swedish massage has shown to be helpful in reducing pain, joint stiffness, and improving function in patients with osteoarthritis of the knee over a period of eight weeks.
Remedial Massage
Remedial Massage is a holistic treatment and involves the use of massage and a wide range of diagnostic techniques to treat a condition. Remedial massage can be helpful in treating specific areas of muscle tension caused by stress or injury. The therapy also helps to get the blood flowing to injured tissues to speed up the repair process. Remedial massage also helps with postural imbalances, muscular imbalances and chronic conditions.
Deep tissue massage
Deep Tissue Massage is a technique that focuses on the deeper layers of muscle tissue. It aims to release the chronic patterns of tension in the body through slow strokes and deep finger pressure on the contracted areas, either following or going across the fibre's of the muscles, tendons and fascia.
Sports massage
Sports Massage is the application of Massage and Stretch techniques to the muscle and connective tissues of the body to enhance athletic performance and maximise the performance of the athlete. Sporting activities involve muscle activity as the primary motive force and many sporting injuries are directly muscle injuries or originate from muscle dysfunction. Sports Massage increases range of movement, increases flexibility and relieves muscle soreness. It assists in injury prevention and promotes faster recovery from both training and injury.
